  • The core: All four models - the 16 Jung Types, the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), Insights Discovery, and The Bridge Personality's 4-color model - are rooted in Carl Jung's theories. They focus on personal preferences and how these preferences influence our behavior, thinking, and feelings.
  • The history: Historically, Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers took the first steps with the MBTI around 1930. They added a dimension to Jung's original concepts, namely the dichotomy between Judging and Perceiving. Around 2001, Insights Discovery and The Bridge Personality were introduced, with The Bridge Personality being the first modern personality test in the world to combine the 16 Jung Types, the 4-colors, and the Big Five.
  • Regarding the measurement method: The MBTI and the 16 Jung Types of The Bridge Personality use letter combinations (e.g., ESTP) to identify the 16 Jung Types. A key detail is that the MBTI uses an ipsative questionnaire, while The Bridge Personality and Insights Discovery use a mix of ipsative and normative questions. Additionally, The Bridge Personality (240 statements) is a much more comprehensive test than the MBTI (88 questions) and Insights (25 statements). As a result, The Bridge Personality's personality measurement is much more reliable, and due to the application of normative-ipsative split technology, there is much less chance of socially-desirable responses.

The Bridge Personality holds an extra ace up its sleeve. In addition to integrating the 16 Jung Types and the 4-color model, it also a Big Five personality test. This makes The Bridge Personality exceptionally versatile, ideal for recruitment and selection purposes. While the MBTI and Insights can be used for personal development, they are much less equipped for selection purposes as The Bridge Personality is.
